Living yoga in the green heart of Italy | June 20-30, 2026

Umbria is calling...

“Umbria, Cuore Verde”the Green Heart of Italy—earned its name from the region’s lush, rolling hills and expansive landscapes. It’s a place where life naturally slows, where breath deepens, and where the mind can finally unclench. Here, surrounded by the quiet beauty of nature, you are invited to pause, reflect, and return to your center in a way that feels both grounding and liberating.

As you wind your way up the rural hillside roads, you’ll arrive at Locanda del Gallo, your home for the next 10 days. This secluded 12th-century villa—cradled by olive trees, lavender, rosemary, and golden light—offers a serene haven above a gentle stream that flows through the surrounding woods. Every detail here whispers rest, nourishment, and renewal.

Each morning begins with grounding, therapeutically aligned yoga practices and centering meditations to ease you into your day. These sessions are designed to help you reconnect with your breath, restore vitality, and build a deeper relationship with your body’s natural intelligence. The theme of this year’s retreat, Ākāśa (आकाश)—the Sanskrit term for “space” or “ether”—infuses each practice with a sense of openness, spaciousness, and inner listening.

As the day unfolds, you might wander through the olive groves, take a gentle hike through the woods, lounge by the saltwater pool, enjoy a massage, or melt into the warmth of the hammam. And on many evenings, after days of movement, stillness, and exploration, we’ll gather again for soft, grounding yoga to integrate your experience and prepare you for deep rest. (Note: Evening practices will not take place on excursion nights.)

This year’s retreat also includes a special offering close to my heart: an optional Reiki I training, held on the third day. This immersive afternoon session will introduce you to the foundations of Reiki—its history, energetics, hand positions, and how to begin offering healing energy to yourself and others. If you choose to participate, you’ll have the remaining retreat days to practice, ask questions, and receive support as you begin your Reiki journey. The training is fully included in the cost of the retreat and is entirely optional; those who prefer spacious free time can enjoy a full day of rest, exploration, or quiet retreat around the villa.

Our time together also extends beyond the villa into the heart of Umbrian culture. While many travelers pass quickly through Italy’s major cities, this retreat invites you to savor the region’s soul through its smaller towns and living traditions. We’ll spend one day in the nearby town of Bevagna during the Mercato delle Gaite, when the streets transform into a vibrant medieval fair. Townspeople don period dress to reenact ancient crafts and culinary practices, and local taverns serve extraordinary dishes inspired by medieval recipes.

Another day leads us to Perugia, the lively capital of Umbria, where winding alleys offer artisan shops, sweeping views, historic piazzas, and modern Italian charm. Whether you choose a quiet gelato, an exploratory wander, or a sunlit aperitivo, every moment offers a chance to immerse yourself in the region’s rich character.

This is the first 10-day retreat I’ve ever led—a rare and meaningful opportunity made possible by an extended opening at Locanda del Gallo, a place that has become a second home for me over the years. Each visit leaves me feeling renewed, restored, and deeply connected. Being able to offer this longer retreat—unhurried, spacious, and full of possibility—feels like a dream realized.

Yogalamb Retreats has had the honor of returning to Locanda for more than a decade, and we are thrilled to offer this expanded experience that blends cultural immersion, personal restoration, and the subtle magic of ākāśa. It is a journey into spaciousness, discovery, and connection—an invitation to soften, to listen, and to return to yourself within the timeless beauty of central Italy.

Join us for a retreat where rest, healing, joy, and gentle exploration come together in a way that truly nourishes the heart.

Before going to Italy with Kevin, I held the perception that any kind of wellness retreat was about dietary restriction and physical isolation; not exactly the way I wanted to spend my free time. This trip revolutionized my perspective, however. Wine tasting, excursions into the local village and even truffle hunting rounded out what was truly a perfect vacation. Not to mention, I made greater strides in my yoga practice in one week than I have in my 2 years of training. Kevin makes even the most novice yogi feel like anything is possible. He is, in the truest sense, an instructor. His willingness to take you through the steps to experience a new pose are unmatched by anyone I have ever worked with before. Perhaps the most fulfilling part of the trip, however, was meeting all my fellow travelers. I came away from the experience with a great group of new friends, with whom I may not have otherwise crossed paths. Overall, it was truly rejuvenating and rewarding for mind, body and soul!

Room options & layouts

Locanda del Gallo offers beautifully appointed rooms, each with its own charm and nestled into the rolling green hills of Umbria. Every room on the property is completely unique — no two are alike — with its own layout, character, and view. All rooms are serene and light-filled, furnished with natural materials, and designed for comfort and rest.

Rooms are assigned based on your chosen occupancy, and we do our best to thoughtfully match guests with spaces that suit their needs.

Triple/quad room

This is the largest room on the property, perfect for groups of friends or solo travelers open to sharing. It features a spacious layout with two beds on the main level and two beds in an open loft. All guests in this room share one private en suite bathroom.

Perfect for: solo travelers, friend groups, budget-conscious guests

Bathroom: Private en suite, shared among room occupants

Double Room

Two separate guest rooms that share one bathroom between them. Each room can be arranged with either two single beds or one king bed for couples. These rooms also share a beautiful common living space — a cozy nook to read, relax, or connect with others staying in the double rooms.

Perfect for: friends, couples, or solo travelers open to a shared bathroom

Bathroom: Shared between two rooms (maximum four guests total)

Common Space: Shared living area exclusive to the double room guests

Double Suite

These spacious rooms are ideal for two solo travelers who want comfort and privacy, while still enjoying the shared retreat experience. Each Double Suite has two single beds and a private en suite bathroom. They offer more space and quiet than the standard double room and are perfect for guests seeking an upgraded stay without paying for a Single Suite.

Perfect for: two solo guests sharing a room

Bathroom: Private en suite

Bedding: Two single beds

Please note: If you’re traveling solo and would prefer a private room, consider booking a Single Suite.

Freedom to roam

While this retreat is grounded in shared practices, cultural immersion, and connection, there will be plenty of spaciousness woven throughout each day for you to follow your own rhythm. Whether that means napping by the saltwater pool, journaling in the garden, taking a quiet walk through the olive groves, or simply watching the light shift across the hills, there’s room here to be exactly where—and how—you need to be.

During our group excursions, you’ll also have opportunities for solo exploration—sip a cappuccino in a sunlit piazza, pop into a tucked-away shop, or meander without an agenda. This retreat is yours to move through gently, with full permission to do less, or to wander a little farther.

If you’re someone who enjoys even more freedom and independence, you may want to consider renting a car. Locanda del Gallo is blissfully remote, and while we’ll provide group transportation for our scheduled outings, having your own car can allow for additional adventures—visiting nearby hill towns, indulging in a spontaneous wine tasting, or extending your stay before or after the retreat to explore more of Umbria at your own pace. We’re happy to help with suggestions or logistics if you choose to rent a vehicle.

However you decide to explore—on foot, by car, or by simply sitting still—you’ll be surrounded by beauty, presence, and possibility.

FLIGHTS & TRANSFERS

We’re happy to arrange all transfers to and from Locanda del Gallo, making your travel as smooth and stress-free as possible. If you’d like to share a transfer with other guests arriving or departing around the same time, we’ll coordinate that for you as well—just let us know your travel plans, and we’ll take care of the rest.
